As part of our healthy grilling initiative for 2019 we decided to give the meat alternative "Beyond Meat burgers" a shot. Made from 100% plant protein these burgers have an interesting texture that is very reminiscent of actual meat. The addition of beet juice for red coloring really makes for a convincing looking burger. We will let you be the judge of the flavor.
1Preheat grill to medium high or about 600f at the GrillGrate surface.
2Remove the Beyond Meat burgers from the packaging.
3Coat each burger with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and then season with salt and pepper.
4Place burgers on preheated grill and allow to cook for five minutes.
5Lift and twist the burgers to get the cross hatch grill marks. Cook additional 3-4 minutes before flipping.
6Lift and twist the burgers one final time after about 3-4 minutes. Burgers are cooked once they reach an internal temperature of 160f.
7Remove from grill to platter. Place burger buns on grill to toast for a minute or so.
8Serve with your favorite burger condiments.
